Event Description:
Hello friends,
Last year, you came to our aid to repel an attack by sinister forces
lurking beneath the foundations of Cold Springs. Trolls, goblins, a
demonic master of undeath, and a massive stone construct that seemed
unstoppable. In the months since then, activities beneath the city
seemed to have ceased completely. We have enjoyed a welcome peace.
A few days ago, however, we received a report that a young boy had
disappeared. His parents informed the city guard that he would often
go exploring in the caverns beneath the city, despite their warnings
that they weren't safe. A party was sent to search for the boy. After
many hours of searching they found him, slain and left in the dark.
The healers were able to revive him, and after returning him to his
parents he was asked what killed him. He said was that while he was
exploring he went around a corner and saw a group of trolls. He heard
them say was something about "the big day". He tried to run away, but
all of a sudden he could hardly run at all. "Like the air had hands
and was holding me tight." he said. They came upon him and stabbed him
in the back.
Once again, on Behalf of Lord Sir Aeston, I must ask for your aid.
Some threat is growing beneath the city, and we must mount an
expedition to find it, and stop it. Meet me in Cold Springs in the
first weekend of December if you wish to take part. As before, any
spoils of war found beneath the city areyours.
My thanks,
Squire Symir Anri
Rules Changes/Notes:
Information on the event and vital information about past WLB events
can be found at www.rhiassa.com in the Quests section. It is our hope
that any player can feel comfortable coming to our events even if they
have not been to previous chapters in the plotline by reading up on
the history.
The event has a 50 PC cap due to the occupancy limitations of the
room. You must pre-reg through RealmsNET or via an email in order to
attend.
Special Rules Changes for This Event:
At this event, every spellcaster must have a "focus". A focus is an
object that has the spellcasters IC and OOC name on it and also says
the word "focus". At this event, spellcasters must have their focus on
them in order to use any spells. Foci are event-stealable.
The following items are also event-stealable if they are not already
stealable: all weapons, shields, bows, armor; basically equipment of
any kind. There will be tags available at the reg desk so you can
label items with your OOC name to allow for their easier return to you
at the end of the event.
Combat Calls:
Stun - if you are hit by a "stun" blow from a weapon, you cannot "do
anything" for 5 seconds. Great roleplaying of this effect involves
being thrown back or falling down, but standing in place and just
acting dazed works as well. "Stun" is *not blocked* by weapons or shields.
Disarm - If your weapon or shield is hit with a "disarm" blow then it
forces you to drop that item. Great roleplaying of this effect
involves your weapon flying out of your hand, but you may simply drop
it as well. Once you drop your weapon you may immediately pick it back
up again with no other effect. A "disarm" shot that hits anywhere on a
legal hit location should be taken as a normal sword blow.
Shatter - If your weapon or shield is hit by a blow of "shatter" it is
broken (or if it is magic, disenchanted). A "shatter" shot that hits
anywhere on a legal hit location should be taken as a normal sword
blow. There may be effects that cause your weapon to be shattered when
you hit certain objects. This will be indicated by the call "shatter
skin".
Shatter Skin - See Above.
Frog: If you or any of your equipment is hit by a stuffed frog
projectile along with the call of "frog" then you have been
transformed into... well, a frog. You must immediately go OOC along
with all the equipment you are currently wielding and carrying. Your
body is now represented by the same stuffed frog that hit you. You
must remain OOC in close proximity to the stuffed frog that represents
your body. As a frog you cannot move or communicate in any way (though
you may make a variety of frog noises). Other PCs may carry you
around, and the spell "speak" will allow you to communicate through
the stuffed frog. The spells "resist magic" and "protect the soul"
will guard you from the effects of "frog".
